The World Science Fiction Convention is back in Glasgow from Aug 8th to 12th.
Almost 20 years after the last one and years in the planning by a horde of supremely wonderful volunteers, this event is shaping up to be an AWESOME festival of science fiction, fantasy, and everything in between.
During the five days of the con you’ll be able to find me waving the flag for Scottish genre fiction like a mad thing. I’m participating in a few panels on Scottish writers, the Scots language, even the ways our country surfaces in Fantasy worlds. And, if you come to my Table Talk on the Sunday I promise to give you the name of one new author to discover that you are going to love.

Friday’s going to be my big day though, because we’re launching both of the books we’ve been working so hard on this year on the same afternoon.
Come and find us at the Argyll 2 (Crowne Plaza) at 1pm for the Luna Press launch party, including Nova Scotia vol 2. Contributors including Ken MacLeod, T.L. Huchu, Jon Courtenay Grimwood, Lindz McLeod, E.M. Faulds, Andrew J Wilson, Lorraine Wilson, David Goodman, Eris Young and Jeda Pearl will be at the convention, so bring your signing pens.

And a little later, the GSFWC mob are throwing a wee bash at 4pm in Argyll 3 to celebrate Gallus, our brand new showcase of talent from the members of Glasgow’s legendary genre writing group. There’ll be wine and maybe a few locally sourced treats, so please come and join us. Most of the contributors will be there too, so make sure you’ve not just got one signing pen, but several!
One last bit of news, hot from the lips of editor, Ian Whates, is that issue 11 of ParSec Magazine is being published to coincide with Worldcon. This special edition will feature stories by Ian McDonald, Aliya Whitely, Adrian Tchaikovsky, Ruth EJ Booth and more. And it will also contain the first part of my Scottish diaspora novella, The Packet, which is being run over issues 11-13. So this’d be a great time to subscribe, dontcha think?
If you’re going to be at Worldcon, come up and say hi!
