There follows a short round up of some stuff I’m really pleased to be doing over the next month or so:
Feb 5th : In the guise of Bert Finkle, with my criminal accomplice Markee de Saw, I’m going to be performing at Spangled Cabaret’s 10th birthday show. Spangled has been a main artery of the Scottish kabaret scene, specialising in oddball/genius/hard-to-describe performances and has been the springboard for dozens of wonderful, creative acts. It’s no exaggeration to say that Spangled has changed lives. Mine included. So, I’m thrilled to be playing some of the songs Markee and I did back when we started.
Spangled Cabaret / Rio pop-up, 323 Sauchiehall St, Glasgow / 8pm / Donation
Feb 8th : The people behind Shoreline of Infinity magazine have asked the super-talented Hal Duncan, Ruth EJ Booth and myself to provide a GSFWC feature slot at their excellent monthly Event Horizon night in Edinburgh and I’m looking forward to reading at this immensely.
Event Horizon / Frankenstein Pub, 26 George IV Bridge, Edinburgh / 7.30pm / FREE
Mar 3rd : Our second Markee and Bert outing of the year will be at The Legends Ball, a charity night of tributes to the works of the devastingly large number of music icons who have died over the last couple of years. Markee’s and my selection is…eclectic, and probably not to be repeated any time soon, so come along and raise money for Cabaret Vs Cancer.
The Legends Ball / Polo Lounge, Glasgow / 7.30pm / £10 now, £12 soon, £15 on the door
Mar 15 : Waterstones Argyle St are hosting a British Fantasy Society social event. Organised by Shona Kinsella, there will be readings from Shona herself, Ruth EJ Booth, RJ Barker and myself. If you’re a BFS member, or are interested in what the society is all about, or just want to come along and have a cuppa and listen to some quality readings, you’ll be more than welcome. Starts early but there will be pubbing afterwards.
