It’s a Farrago, I tell you

In the world of online fiction zines, Farrago’s Wainscot has established itself as among the most chic, oblique and unique. Their regular selection of literary short stories is always worth dipping into, and if that weren’t enough they have this little bundle of extras that goes by the name of Behind The Wainscot. In the […]

Loggorhea Redux

Earlier this year we saw the publication of John Klima’s excellent anthology, Logorrhea: Good Words Make Good Stories. I mentioned it at the time (partially because it features my The Euonymist, partly because it’s a fab book), but to recap, this is a marvelous collection of stories inspired by the championship words in the US […]

Ebooks, and all that jazz

Prompted by the launch of Amazon’s new ebook reader, Gary Gibson has written an excellent and passionate post on the virtues of electronic books. I’ve been feeling myself change my mind about this for some time, slowly shifting from a staunch paper’n’printer to acknowledging that with paper costs and all that, the future can only […]

Gutted

So, despite all my tactics the game went exactly as I expected it to. Now, I have to think up diversionary tactics for the next year until the World Cup qualifiers get under way. At least we’ll have an easier set of opponents next time round. Time to get back to the novel I think!

Diversionary Tactics (3)

These attempts  are getting less and less successful. At least the latest episode of Heroes kept me distracted. I liked the switch to five years in the future, after the bomb and everything’s changed. I’m saving this week’s Jericho til tonight, so last night I fired up EQ for a couple of hour of good […]

Diversionary Tactics (2)

Last night’s attempt at mental misdirection was something of a motley collection. Each was engrossing in itself, but short lived. Here’s the rundown: Wednesday Fives – cracking game of football which involved my side coming back from a seven goal deficit to snatch a tie at the end. Totally absorbing for the hour it lasted, […]

Diversionary Tactics(1)

In order to stop me from going quite mad with worry and over-speculation in the coming days, I’ve decided to employ a series of diversionary tactics, which I’m then going to relate to you lot to further distance my thoughts from the subject during the day time. Last night’s effort, coinciding with it being the […]

Coming Down The Road

I’ve got an earworm. You know, a tune that keeps popping into your head and won’t go away? This one, it’s the one that goes “We’ll be coming, we’ll be coming, we’ll be coming down the road…” Aye, coming down the road. Five days to go, and the tension’s already getting to me. By Friday […]
