And all of a sudden, Easter is just around the corner. Which means the annual beer and gab fest that is Eastercon. I say this every year but if you’re interested in SF and Fantasy Eastercon is a great way to spend a weekend. If you’re a reader of SF and Fantasy books, it’s a rare chance to listen to the authors whose books you love talk, and to meet them too (they’re all very approachable). And if you’re a writer, it’s a pretty much no brainer – an opportunity to talk writing with other writers and to meet editors, publishers and agents too. How often does that happen?
This year, Eastercon is Bradford. I had mixed feelings about the set-up last time, with the flow of the weekend broken up by the necessity of catching a bus to my hotel every time I wanted to go back to my room, but hopefully the more frequent service promised this year will help with that. I’m also really hoping to find a really great curry house. Bradford is famous for them, but on the evidence of last time I’m not convinced Glasgow’s aren’t better.
So, who’s joining me this year? Who’s up for a curry or a beer or a coffee or even just a quick hello in passing in the lobby?
See you there! 😉
I’m not an expert, but I’ve heard some people say that Bradford’s reputation for curries is chiefly held by people who live in Bradford, rather than elsewhere.
(And if that’s fighting talk, so be it.) 🙂
I’ll be around. Catch you for a beer and a hello, if not a curry.
Excellent!
I’m giving this one a miss. Too tired at this time of year.
Maybe when I give up the day job….
Glasgow next year, then.
The nobel teach profession finally loses one of its shining lights? Good for you, son.
I hear there’ll be a book launch at that Eastercon too. Just saying.
Really? Ooh, I wonder who the author is… *kof! kof!*
