Got a couple of book-related appearances coming up over the next couple of months:
First up, I’m jiggling like a Duracell bunny with excitement to be able to welcome Ann and Jeff VanderMeer to Glasgow, and Waterstones Argyle St have kindly agreed to host a night of discussion of Science Fiction, Fiction, Weird, anthology editing and anything else we can think of. Joining Ann and Jeff will be award winning Glasgow-based writers Amal El-Mohtar and Hal Duncan (and me).
There will be talking, laughs, flash readings, questions, answers, sinister bunnies and lots of books.
If you want to know more about Jeff’s acclaimed Southern Reach trilogy or his legendary genre-defining Amergris books; or ask Ann about her editing work with Jeff and at Tor.com; or quizz Amal about the many flavours of honey; or find out the answer to question: what is Hal Duncan working on these days (the answer may surprise you), then get yourself a ticket and come the heck along.
An Evening with Ann and Jeff VanderMeer
WATERSTONE’S GLASGOW ARGYLE ST
Thursday, 21 August 2014, 7:00PM – 8:30PM
Tickets are free, call to reserve
And then, into September, I’m joining the most prolific writier I know, Douglas Thompson, to help launch not one but THREE new books: The Rhymer, The Brahan Seer, and Volwys And Other Stories. If you’ve not sample Doug’s wonderfully surreal writing before, come along and have a taster.
I’ll be there with The Moon King, and perhaps a bit of something new.
